Adam Buxton’s Best of BUG: The Evolution of Music Video, will come to Colston Hall for a one-off show on Tuesday 19 September to launch Encounters Film Festival 2017
Film fans are invited to feast their eyes and ears on an evening of awe-inspiring music videos, astounding online nuggets and a unique brand of sit-down comedy with Adam Buxton – comedian, writer, broadcaster, video director, general music video enthusiast and YouTube comment wrangler.
Adam Buxton’s Best of BUG: The Evolution of Music Video, will bring the best of the hugely popular video and comedy extravaganza to the Colston Hall stage. First aired in April 2007 at the home of British cinema, BFI Southbank, the BUG shows have become a mainstay of the BFI’s programming and also enjoyed a series run on Sky Atlantic.
Adam first made his name alongside Joe Cornish in parody review classic The Adam and Joe Show. When the pair moved to radio station BBC 6 Music they won numerous awards and became one of the station’s most highly-rated programmes. Adam has his own podcast series which is proving equally popular.
The special show at Colston Hall will feature a selection of some of the most popular videos from recent BUG shows with Adam’s hilarious presentation mixed with some delightfully unbalanced commentary from YouTube users.
Audience members are promised outstanding clips rarely seen on the big screen, some true gems dug from the web and hilarious insights into the online community.
Highly regarded in the film industry, Encounters is recognised as a gateway to the Academy Awards® and leading film prizes in Europe, such as the BAFTAs, the European Film Awards and Cartoon d’Or. In its 23rd year, the Festival will showcase a host of screenings and special events in Bristol from 19-24 September.
