Gary Daniels, local Reebok Master Trainer, shows how incorporating vegetarian food into your diet can help you slim down, shape up and get healthier.

Breakfast

Creamy, Banana and Almond Milkshake
 
Ideal not only for breakfast but pre and post exercise, this morning mouthful contains
  • a banana,
  • skimmed milk (or either coconut, soy and almond milk),
  • 10 almonds,
  • a handful of ice,
  • and half a scoop of protein powder
  • or a handful of oat seeds (or chia, pumpkin or hemp).
 
This refreshing beverage is low in fat and high in protein which keeps those feeling fuller for longer and can help to improve muscular recovery after a workout.
He advises: “There’s a common misconception that vegetarian diets may easily lead to malnutrition. In most cases however, the majority of our meals are not sufficient enough to provide our body with everything it needs to truly function at its best. But as vegetarian meals can provide foods low in saturated fats and high in heart healthy, natural ingredients, they can be a great addition to our lifestyles and can decrease our risk of heart disease, improve lean body mass, and give us a feeling of satisfaction.”
