Bristol Fashion Week runs from 6 – 10 April at The Mall, Cribbs Causeway.  In true style tradition, five lucky locals will be receiving a complete overhaul with a complimentary makeover.  We meet the winners…

Every season, Bristol Fashion Week invites you to nominate your friends and family who are deserving of a complete style overhaul makeover to boost their self confidence.  Perhaps your friend is searching for that perfect job and needs some fashion tips.  Maybe your best mate is trying the delights of Speed Dating and needs the perfect togs to make that vital first impression.  Whatever the reason, and whatever the weather, this year Bristol Fashion Week is welcoming five locals to receive the full treatment – from hair, makeup, fashion and style advice, to posture, body language and working that smile on the catwalk.

The winners Claire Kedward, Cailin Harris, Helen Corbiere, Julie Bowers and Scott Bennett will all receive an exclusive shopping trip with Bristol Fashion Week host, TV stylist Mark Heyes, who will help them select a new look to bring out their most fabulous selves. They will also receive a complimentary hair makeover with Tomlinson, the official hairdresser of Bristol Fashion Week, and a makeup masterclass with Bobbi Brown at John Lewis at The Mall.

This deserving crew all have amazing stories to tell and were nominated by their friends and family to win this surprise of a lifetime. You’ll get the chance to hear their stories on the catwalk at Bristol Fashion Week.

Scott Bennett, age 33, Portishead

Scott’s fiancée Mel secretly nominated him for an extra special treat for being such a great dad to their one-year old son, Henry.

“Scott works so hard for us and he’s the best dad ever. He will do anything for anyone, even when it means him missing out on something, so we thought he deserved to get something back,” said Mel.

“I couldn’t have been more surprised to be nominated for this but I think it’s brilliant! It will be a lovely experience and great knowing my fiancée will be there to cheer me on,” said Scott.

Helen Corbiere, age 28, Cirencester

As a busy mum to a nine month old daughter, Helen has very little time for herself and wanted a makeover to her style and bring out her inner yummy mummy!

“I could do with a style fix after having my first baby. Nowadays I seem to always throw on a baggy jumper and leggings because it’s quick, but I’d like to learn how to be more stylish now that I’m a mummy, especially because I’m due to return to work in a few months,” said Helen.

Claire Kedward, age 40, Almondsbury

Before applying for a Bristol Fashion Week makeover, mum of two Claire’s wardrobe was in crisis – lots of clothes that didn’t match and no idea how to make them work! She applied for a makeover to help turn her style around.

“Before having my children, I lived in baggy jumpers, ill-fitting jeans and Crocs! I never knew what to wear. Even now when I open up my wardrobe in the morning, I still feel overwhelmed and confused and can feel my self-confidence melting away. I would love to have the opportunity to be made over and for my husband and two girls to feel proud of me”.

Julie Bowers, age 52, Burnham-on-Sea

In August 2011, Julie lost her husband of 25 years and has since had to adjust to life without him. Since then she has rebuilt her life, starting her own business and is slowly rebuilding her confidence.

“It’s been a really tough few years because when I lost my husband I also lost my sense of identity and my confidence. I feel I am now ready to start dating, but I have no idea where to start or what to wear. I’d love a style fix to feel modern, feminine and also to boost my confidence taking those first steps into dating again after nearly 30 years,” said Julie.

Cailin Harris, age 40, Swindon

Believe it or not, Cailin has two grown up children, aged 19 and 21. Since they flew the nest, Cailin is rediscovering her sense of style and wants a little nudge in the right direction to find her inner fashionista.

Cailin said: “I just turned 40 recently and I feel I’ve been stuck in a style rut for such a long time, always wearing jogging bottoms. I’m a landscape gardener, so I spend my days in welly boots and trousers with my hair up in a ponytail. Just for once, I’d love to feel more glamorous and for my kids to see me looking like ‘Cailin’ again, not just like mum!”
