WITH THE LAUNCH OF THE RIO DE JANEIRO OLYMPICS STARTING THIS WEEKEND TREAT YOURSELF TO A NEW LIMITED EDITION MENU
Las Iguanas has always been a popular choice amongst Bristolians; not only did the popular chain launch here (at the Whiteladies Road venue) but it has since added two more venues and remains a popular choice for those of us looking for a little Latin flavour.
Notorious for providing mouth-watering food and drinks at reasonable prices (their infamous 2-4-1 cocktail deal is always a favourite) Las Iguanas are now offering their diners an extra special offer to coincide with the Rio Olympics, and to celebrate 25 years of trading, with the launch of their Limited Edition Set Menu.
You can opt for two courses and a drink for £17, or three courses and a drink for only £20, with all of the menu options carefully chosen to best showcase the flavours of Brazil.
Starters include crispy prawn and crab croquettes with zingy lime aioli, crispy cheesy cubes served with sticky chilli jam, and (our favourite) the mini Picanha Churrasco; marinated strips of steak served on skewers with a campanha salsa.
The Xinxim is undoubtedly the star of the main courses; chicken and crayfish served in a deliciously zingy lime and peanut sauce, served with spring onion rice, fine green beans and sweet plantain. Vegetarians are also catered for, with the Halloumi Churrasco skewers; honey-glazed halloumi, beetroot, artichoke, red onions and peppers with a salad and sweet potato fries.
If you can make it to the dessert menu then choices include a creamy, set coconut pudding with mixed berries and mango puree and an indulgent, rich chocolate ganache.
To go alongside your gastronomic journey to Brazil, you can enjoy a drink included in the set menu and choose from a selection of beer, wine, non-alcoholic coolers or (perhaps best) a deliciously sticky caiprinha cocktail.
