My name is Ruth and I live in Bedminster with my husband Stu and 2 daughters, Iris and Rosa. It’s just a stone’s throw away from where I first lived when I moved to Bristol, 20 years ago, to study at Bower Ashton art college.
Since graduating I have worked in many creative fields; from architectural glass, to teaching drawing; to creating a hand-made baby clothes business, and floristry. I now concentrate on making limited edition lino prints and related products. I am surrounded by brilliantly creative people in Bristol, its a really fun city to live in,and its hard not to be inspired by that.
I have created a pair of placemats for Made in Bristol, inspired by two environmental success stories. Namely the return of the otter to Bristol’s floating harbour and the 6 Kashmir goats who eat the invasive shrubs that threaten the survival of the rare and unique plants in the Avon Gorge.
These are available as a full colour pair in Made in Bristol’s Lab Shop or we have produced them ready for you to colour yourselves, perfect entertainment to keep your children at the dinner table when you dish up.
The best bit is that with a damp cloth you can easily wipe theses fun placemats clean for the next day too.
