Skate and BMX fans need look no further as NASS festival returns to Shepton Mallet this month. From 6 – 9 July, NASS will be home to international pros from across the globe, a street art lineup curated by the folks at Upfest, seven music stages, a ring of fire, DJ and MC workshops and six sport courses. Here’s our pick of the bunch…
1. Vert Finals
There’s nothing quite like watching the world’s best athletes tearing up and down a 14ft high vert ramp, pulling off the most ridiculous aerial tricks for huge crowds. Vert is at the very heart of NASS and whether it’s on two wheels or four, the professional and amateur athletes competing at NASS have got some serious skills that aren’t to be missed.
2. Logan Martin
Reigning NASS and World Champion, X Games Silver Medallist, two-time FISE champion and Nitro World Games Medallist, Logan has achieved a lot and he’s only 23. This guy is one of the most talented BMX riders ever and you can guarantee whenever he takes to the pro park, something special is guaranteed to happen.
3. Method Man & Redman
One of hip-hop’s most iconic duos head to the South West for their only UK show at NASS & it’s going to be epic. Method Man, in case you didn’t know was one of the original members of the hip—hop collective Wu Tang Clan and Redman was part of the equally huge Def Squad. The duos Blackout tour brought about some of the finest hip-hop concerts ever seen, so those heading to see Mef & Red at NASS are certain to witness something spectacular.
4. Grime, Grime and More Grime
Kano as a headline act is tantalising enough but when you throw Wiley into the mix, you’re in for a grimy evening. The Godfather of Grime will be supporting Kano on Sunday night at NASS, but there’s grime to be found right across the weekend as GIGG Krept & Konan, Novelist, P Money, Coco, Capo Lee and plenty more will all be performing throughout the weekend
5. Girls Skate Contest
Skate is bigger than ever at NASS this year & part of that is the inclusion of an expanded female skate contest. Josie Miller has been building an incredible following in recent times; her instagram has been breaking the internet as she posts clips of effortlessly smooth lines and combos… and Josie is just one reason to watch the girls contest. There’s Rianne Evans, Lucy Adams, Helena Long and more… and they all shred just as hard as the boys.
