A pupil from The Downs Preparatory School in Wraxall, Bristol has been invited to exhibit his paintings in the inaugural Young Artists’ Summer Show exhibition at The Royal Academy in London.

Year 3 pupil Sebastian Mann, aged 8, will have his painting titled Surprised by a Tiger on show at the art institution from 13 July – 4 August.

The very first Young Artists’ Summer Show invited talented primary and secondary students from across the UK to submit their artwork for a chance to have it displayed online and at the Royal Academy.

Out of a strong field of 6,200 young artists, a total of nine pupils from The Downs Preparatory School were shortlisted. Alongside Sebastian’s success, Year 8 pupil Lulu Thomas (aged 13) has being accepted into the online exhibition.

Sebastian’s work has now been framed and his family will travel to London to deliver the work of art to the Royal Academy on 6 July.

The Royal Academy Young Artists’ Summer Show will be online from 10 June – 31 December 2019. To view the show and vote for your favourite artwork, visit: youngartists.royalacademy.org.uk/exhibitions/2019
