The Ivy Clifton Brasserie is celebrating its second birthday and the 40th anniversary of Bristol International Balloon Fiesta with a themed installation plus a special limited edition cocktail and competition.
Celebrations got off to a flying start with the introduction of a two-metre-wide helium balloon inside the restaurant. It’s an eye-catching aerial display with a design inspired by The Ivy’s harlequin windows, colourful flowers adorning its wicker basket and ivy from Bristol florist Belle de Jour. As a nod to the Fiesta, the birthday balloon is being lowered into the heart of the brasserie every mid-week evening at 6pm, with guests dining from the set menu invited to select a card from within the basket for a chance to win a special prize. Dinner for two at the restaurant, as well as prizes from SS Great Britain and Bristol Blue Glass, are all on offer.
Over the next six weeks, set-menu diners will also be able to enjoy the brasserie’s bespoke ‘Aviation’ cocktail which has been specially created in partnership with Monkey 47 as a further celebration of one of the city’s most loved events. Served alongside a fun-sized ‘floating’ balloon and miniature basket, the fruity cocktail comprises Monkey 47’s Schwarzwald dry gin combined with maraschino liqueur, Briottet violette liqueur and fresh lemon juice presented in an elegant martini glass. Distilled in the Black Forest, the unique gin contains 47 botanicals including exotic spices and native plants found in the forest.
“We’re delighted to be celebrating our second birthday by combining the city’s biggest summer event, Bristol Balloon Fiesta, with our set menu offering and unique ‘Aviation’ cocktail in partnership with Monkey 47,” said GM Adam Wilson. “The next six weeks will be dedicated to celebrating our first two years in Clifton and we wish all of our diners the best of luck with our exciting competition.”
The ‘Aviation’ cocktail (£9) and set menu offering (£16.50 for two courses, £21 for three) will be available from 11.30am – 7pm, Monday – Friday until 14 September. The balloon will be lowered each week-night between these dates at 6pm and the competition will be open exclusively for guests dining from the set menu from Monday – Friday, 4pm – 7pm.
