In the whimsical Grand Duchy of Pfennig-Halbpfennig, a spirited theatrical troupe hatches a daring plot to overthrow the miserly Grand Duke Rudolph.  With their scheme discovered, the actors must save their skin with a “statutory duel”.  But when the hapless Ludwig suddenly finds himself wearing the crown, nothing goes as planned.
